On January 29, 2009, the Explorers took another stab at creating personal fossils with plaster of paris. By working more quickly, and especially by starting with a much more watery mixture, the project had a much better outcome. Each of the Explorers ended up with a nice "fossil" cast of their own footprint or handprint. And as an added bonus (thanks to the creative mind of one of the club mothers who volunteered to help out), a touch of food coloring in each mixing bowl provided some tints that are rarely seen in "natural" fossils.
