Plaster Fossils, Take Two 2009 On January 29, 2009, the Explorers took another stab at creating personal fossils with plaster of paris. By working more quickly, and especially by starting with a much more watery mixture, the project had a much better outcome. Each of the Explorers ended up with a nice “fossil” cast of their own footprint or handprint. And as an added bonus (thanks to the creative mind of one of the club mothers who volunteered to help out), a touch of food coloring in each mixing bowl provided some tints that are rarely seen in “natural” fossils.
